2012 Fukuoka JALT Conference
Come and see over 40 presentations on topics of interest to language educators. Participate in practical workshops and Round Table discussions, see short demonstrations of classroom activities in the My Share sessions, and hear presentations on current academic research in language education.
2012 Fukuoka JALT Educational Materials Expo
Visit the booths of local and national publishers to see their latest releases, discuss your teaching situation and resource requirements directly with the publishers' representatives, and request inspection copies of all the materials that interest you. As well as the latest releases, see the extensive range of books and materials that don't fit on the bookstore shelves. In addition, publishers' representatives will deliver presentations on the uses of their materials in your classes.
Call for Presenters!
The Call for Presenters is now open for the 2012 Fukuoka JALT Conference and Educational Materials Expo. Please submit all proposals via the submission form on our website by April 30th, 2012.
Proposals must include a 150 word abstract, which the reading committee will use to select suitable presentations, and a 50 word presentation description. After selection, the descriptions will be used in the online and print versions of the program, so please edit your work carefully.
Presentation types:
Presentation (45 minutes, including Q&A)
In principle, either one or two speakers present their research on a single topic, in lecture style.
Workshop (45 or 90 minutes)
In principle, either one or two presenters deliver hands-on instruction or coaching to a group of active participants. All presentation rooms have Internet access, so CALL and online workshops will be possible in this venue.
Round Table (90 minutes)
In principle, 4 ~ 6 speakers deliver short presentations on a shared topic, before inviting open discussion from participants.
At this time, only the contact details of the organizer and the topic are required. If accepted, the organizer is required to put together a panel of 4~6 speakers, inclusive of him- or herself. Full details of the round table participants must be submitted to Fukuoka JALT by September 1st, or risk cancellation.
The round table topics will be posted on our website as they are established, and organizers are welcome to post contact details here for potential speakers to contact them.
My Share (90 minutes)
In principle, 6 ~ 8 speakers deliver short (10 minutes) presentations on a shared topic.
At this time, My Share proposals on any and all topics are welcome. Presentations will be grouped together thematically, and the My Share topics will be posted on our website as they are established.
All presenters will be expected to become JALT members by September 15th. (Click here to join JALT now.)
