Fukuoka JALT Officer Nominations 2010

Fukuoka JALT is accepting nominations for 2010-2011 chapter officer positions. The deadline to make any nominations is Sunday, August 8th. 

Please send all nominations using the form at the bottom of this page. Any other forms of nominations will not be accepted.  

The current officers who are NOT accepting nominations for the coming year are:
  • Jack Brajcich (current president)
  • Jane Harland (current membership chair)
  • Kazuko Sako (current assistant membership chair)
  • Miki Tokunaga (current publicity chair)
Please nominate yourself if you are willing to help out our chapter!

Please include the following when submitting a nomination:

1. The position you are making a nomination for.
2. The name of the person you are nominating.
3. The contact information (e-mail address or phone number) for the person you are nominating. This information is necessary for us to contact the nominee for acceptance/declination of the nominations.  

If you are making nominations for several positions, please include all the above information for each position.  

The officer positions and their responsibilities are as follows.  

1. President: The president shall have general responsibility for coordinating the activities of the JALT Fukuoka Executive Board, directing and publicizing the affairs of the chapter, and representing its interests to the JALT National Executive Board. He/She shall preside at the JALT Fukuoka Executive Board meetings, and at the Annual General Meeting. With the approval of the JALT Fukuoka Executive Board, he/she may appoint committees as deemed necessary to carry out the work of the organization. 

2. Treasurer: The treasurer shall maintain all financial records, be responsible for collecting and disbursing all funds of JALT Fukuoka, accepting payment of membership dues, reimbursing individuals for JALT-related expenses, and submitting financial reports as directed by JALT policy, including the annual budget. 

3. Programs: The program chair shall be responsible for the recruitment of prospective speakers, communication with speakers and supervising the arrangements for JALT Fukuoka chapter meetings. He/She must also provide timely information to the publicity chair, send announcements of the chapter’s activities to The Language Teacher, and fulfill all reporting requirements about meetings and presenters for the JALT program database. 

4. Publicity: The publicity chair shall be responsible for coordinating JALT Fukuoka's publicity and public relations in both JALT and non-JALT forums. 

5. Membership: The membership chair shall be responsible for the maintenance of current and past member records, encouraging timely renewals, communicating with the JALT Central Office (JCO) and working at the reception desk at meetings.  In addition, he/ she shall be responsible for conducting periodic membership drives. 

6. eNewsletter Editor / TLT Liaison: eNewsletter Editor /The Language Teacher (TLT) liaison shall be responsible for assuring that regular reviews of chapter meetings are written up and sent to Fukuoka JALT members as eNewsletter and submitted to The Language Teacher in a timely manner, and that other articles pertaining to the chapter are submitted to The Language Teacher as warranted.  In carrying out these duties, he/she will coordinate his/ her activities with the publicity chair. 

7. Webmaster: The webmaster shall be responsible for maintaining Fukuoka JALT (http://www.fukuokajalt.org/) webpage. 

8. Social: The social chair shall be responsible for organizing dinner socials after the monthly meeting.
